Gull Rock

We've done a lot of camping and hiking with the boy, however we've never actually gone backpacking with him. That is to say, we've never actually hiked somewhere set up camp and hiked back. We've done a lot of base camping where we car camp and take hikes from there and cabin camping, so this was a first. We hiked out to Gull Rock on Saturday, spent the night and hiked back in the morning. Since Gull Rock is near Hope, AK we know it to be a rather rainy place and packed accordingly. How wonderful it is to have all the appropriate gear. Hiking back was entirely in the rain. Our campsite was very near a cliff, so you'll notice The Bear was tied off, as to not get too far ahead of us.

Before we left the house on Saturday, The Bear's excitement grew and grew. He clearly knows what the packs mean and once we had him dressed he was READY to go. So much so he emphatically used his new sign please, with not one, but two wildly excited hands. He sure is and outdoorsman and we aren't complaining! On the hike he just babbled the whole way until he became sleeply, let out a few cries and was out.
