Bop the Triathlete

We're very proud of the Papa Bear! Coming off Denali, his goal is to maintain the level of fitness he's come to enjoy. In doing so he's taking aim at triathlons and 5k races. While many thought it strange for him to enter the Xterra Hammerman for his first triathlon, those who really know him totally get it. He's always been a mountain biker and the narrower the trail the better in his book. Competing this past Saturday, the race consisted of a 1/2 mile swim, 13 mile bike ride and 4 mile run. He rocked it, coming in 15th out of the 44 men competing and smashing his personal goal of 2 hours 30 mins., by coming in at 2 hours 9 minutes. His goal next year, under 2 hours - utterly accessible. Next week we'll be running the 5K for Good. I'll be pushing the stroller in that one. On August 6th I'll be trying to improve on my time in the AK 10K Classic and competing in my second ever (and of the season) half-marathon on August 21st with the Big Wildlife Runs. I'm focusing on 10Ks and halfs right now. Well off to do a family intervals session at the track and then Monday night take-out.
